I just wanted to send a heartfelt thank you to all who attended and
assisted with SLC. Many of you went above and beyond in helping to have
a successful SLC. Some advisors volunteered to do additional duty and
many just jumped in to help when they saw the need. That's why this
group is so awesome! I know many were on spring break and devoted their
time to FBLA; thank you for that. If you are on break now, enjoy and
come back to school well rested.

I just want to mention some of the people who truly worked hard to put
this conference together and make sure it ran smoothly; B.J. Powell,
Traci Buckner, Betty Scott, Gerry Skiles, D'Ann Falke, Kim Hurst,
Jeanine Ellaby, Carmen Rubio and Margaret Blanton. All of these people
have been working for many months to put this conference together in
addition to running their chapter and teaching full time. They deserve
our thanks.

To those who did not show up for your assigned duty, please realize
that we all have to do our part to make things work. This is an
organization of volunteers and we all have full time jobs outside of
FBLA, so it is imperative that we all work together and pull our
weight.

Some of the glitches that we had at SLC will be addressed. I spoke
with many of you concerning some of these problems, but I invite all of
you to share your ideas for improving things. Please remember, many of
those problems were out of our hands. The Omni took back some of the
meeting rooms they had promised us at the last minute, so the program
was wrong and we had to adjust things. This did create some confusion,
but we tried to be accommodating to all participants and I think that
was achieved. We can't control outside forces, like judges not showing
up or rooms being taken away, but all in all, we dealt with whatever was
thrown at us and had a successful conference.

To new advisors, I hope your first SLC was a good experience and
inspired you for the coming years. If you are able to attend NLC, it is
an awesome experience. If you would like to become more involved in
helping with SLC for next year, please just let me know and there will
certainly be something for you to be in charge of next year.

Thanks again to all of you and good luck to all attending NLC!

Malia Hudson
President, Texas FBLA
